The QFI’s Built Environment Design Management programme caters for those aspiring to achieve professional recognition. On completion of the programme, candidates will achieve the Certificate of Professional Achievement in Civil Engineering/Highways Engineering (CPA) and prepare candidates for the professional review stage with the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE).
The programme requires candidates to demonstrate that they have the technical competence to perform at technician level in one of the construction discipline listed below.
SVQ at SCQF Level 6/7 covering one of the following disciplines:
– Setting Out/Dimensional Control
– Site Supervision
– Quantity Surveying
– Site Inspection/Quality Control
– Design and Draughting
– Materials Testing
On successful completion of Stage 1 and on recommendation by the assessor, candidates will progress to Stage 2 of the programme and enrol onto the SVQ in Built Environment Design at SCQF Level 9.
Candidates will have to demonstrate that they can liaise effectively with clients to clarify/develop a suitable design brief, communicate design requirements effectively to other key members of the design team and assess design proposals in line with the overall project goals.
Review Stage of Professional Development
On completion of Stage 2, candidates will be mentored and guided through their application for Professional Review with the ICE/IHE for either, depending on experience, Incorporated Engineer or Charted Engineer status.
Candidates that exit at Stage 1 can apply for professional review for Engineering Technician with either institutes.
